ALOR STAR: PAS Youth’s proposal to implement the Islamic administrative system in Pakatan Rakyat states is totally unacceptable, said DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang.
Lim said it was not in line with Pakatan Rakyat’s promises to uphold the secular state.
“There should be no attempt to introduce Islamic state or hudud laws,” he said.
Kit Siang said this in response to a proposal by PAS youth vice-chief Azman Shapawi to implement Islamic administrative system in the Pakatan Rakyat governed states if PKR and DAP agreed to it.
Lim said the call raises questions as to whether the Islamist party would keep to its promises made when Pakatan Rakyat was formed.
Asked about talk that signs of break up had emerged between component parties in the alliance, Lim said talk would remain as talk.
“We are reaching 100 days where the Pakatan Rakyat state governments have shown the difference in tackling problems compared with the Barisan Nasional,” he said.
Kit Siang earlier lea a DAP delegation to present a 12-point “mini” memorandum to Kedah Mentri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak.
Kit Siang described the one-hour meeting with Azizan as cordial and fruitful.
“We brought up questions raised by the Chinese community during a recent dialogue with DAP leaders,” he said.
